Beck just left to go play D&D with his friends, and I am left to my own devices.
Coffee and the internets. Cleaning isn't appealing to me at the moment, but trying to see if
I can get The Sims to work on my computer is.

Still finding it impossible to be sociable. A post is attempted, but is then hidden or discarded halfway through from overzealous self censorship. Haven't signed into farcebook or myspace in .. maybe over a week or more? I dont' really remember.

However, I've been reading a lot. My wakeful nights do help with that.
And during the course of the OSBP debacle, many new journals of very intersting people were stumbled across. I pretty much devoured Snopes. Various cooking blogs. Ergh, It just pisses me off so I'm taking a mental health break from news.

The weather is nice, the trees are emitting prodigious amounts of plant spunk but it hasn't seemed to have any adverse effects on my sinuses yet. :) yay!
I think its time to break out the camera.
If I have trouble posting, I can at least put up some pictures, right?

Oh, last Friday I ventured into the used bookstore that I used to work in before I started at the medical billing office. It was first time I've been in there in 4 or so years, and they've really done a lot with it. For two hours I scoured almost every section finding books that I had entered into the system, picking out a few paperbacks for reading copies. Oh, there was a book I wanted when I worked there and it is still in the exact same place I remember it being. For seven years it's been there!
In the children's section there were some very good condition copes of Matilda, The BFG, and Boy, by Roald Dahl. Mr. Dahl's books are among my favourite, and I've been rather fond of Quentin Blake's odd scribbly illustrations since my very first books.

Insomnia abounds.

Paid $50 towards a medical debt from 5 years ago (rather nasty incident), only several hundred more dollars to go. *sigh*

At least I paid off the damned care credit bill. My other little sister was on that account, but she had no means to pay it off so it was up to me. At least her credit is still shiny.

Apparently she's engaged.

Well, I did it.
I braved the outside world and got my darn coffee and sandwich.

And I didn't lose my money, forget or lose my keys, have an accident, get talked at by strangers,
run into Restaurant Guy, run into Cinema Guy, I almost encountered Overly Friendly Coffee Guy Who Vaguely Resembles Tommy Lee Jones - but I took the other entrance and managed to avoid him. Nothing bad occurred at all, unless you count standing line to order my sandwich for 20 minutes with a bunch of strangers, who didn't invade my rather large personal bubble, and were thankfully concerned with why their own sandwiches were taking so long.

And now I need a shower and then it is time to get to work.

this was the weekend of the horror convention that has Sid Haig as a guest

even if I was able to go, I don't think my neuroticism would allow me any sort of interaction

Oh bother, I'm not sure how it happened but I've managed to injure my hand, my right hand to be precise which is a real frustration because practically everything is done with that hand.
Lefty is rather inept.
As a result, I've not been online much because typing is a real pain, and its all I can do to keep up at work (which is basically data entry, joy!).

In short, my weekend consisted of me getting a shut off notice for the gas, me panicking over it excessively and escaping into Age of Mythology for hours until my moodiness subsided.
Luckily, the customer service person was quite nice and we managed to work out a payment plan.

time for bed!

Mood:awake awake

The past few days, my schedule has been completely thrown off and I haven't quite figured out why yet. It's been harder and harder to actually sleep through 'the night' (which is 4am -12pm for me), and sleeping has been involving a lot of tossing and turning and, fortunately, very vivid dreams.
Well today I woke up at 7:30am and couldn't, no matter how hard I tried, get back to sleep so here I sit, fairly awake, eating a breakfast of cold chicken.

Rise in Staple Prices Outpacing Luxury Goods
From DemocracyNow!

A new analysis shows inflation has led to a greater increase in prices of staples needed for basic daily life than it has on luxury goods. According to the Washington Post, prices for basics, including groceries, gasoline and healthcare, have risen more than nine percent over two years ago. By contrast, prices for luxuries, including restaurant meals, alcoholic beverages, new cars, furniture and clothing, have risen just 2.4 percent. Meanwhile, increases in earnings for non-managerial workers were just over half the increase in staple costs, at five percent. The rise in staple prices is attributed to increasing demand for oil, but also ethanol, which drives up food prices by making food crops more scarce.

I see this everywhere. Meaning, everywhere in the news, but already I hear my friends and family and coworkers starting to feel the effects. I've already cut out most extraneous fluff (except the internet, it's my one true luxury), and doctor visits have been pretty much out of the question for years.
For several months, $30.00 a week for groceries for two people has sufficed and I worry that it's going to be hard to stretch that even further.

Aww, it's rather cute, I think. But what sort of biscuit does one give a freaky robot-dog-thing?

Thankfully, there was no work to be had today. Last evening, I had visions of spring cleaning dancing about my head while I tried to fall asleep but having been up quite some time and not really making any headway in the whole "tidying up" department, it's probably not going to happen today.
I'm happy enough to hang about my room listening to music and wandering the internet and *not* being at work.

Watching what appeared to be the death quivers of LJ, I decided to finally poke about InsaneJournal after hearing so many good things.

It's rather like moving into a new apartment without any furniture.
A little lonely, enhanced by the echoes.

Time to go explore communities I guess...
